Governments are now looking to the food chain to provide safe products and to contribute to economic and social goals, while improving both environmental sustainability and public health. Along the food chain, from agriculture through to household waste disposal, the challenges are frequently complex and cross-cutting in nature. To make progress, the understanding of the specific problems need to be matched with an appreciation of the way the wider system works.

GHK undertakes policy research and development projects on a range of food chain issues and is equipped to deliver impact assessments and evaluations at national level and on a pan-EU basis.
